Continuing Education


Under the Funeral Services Act, General Regulation, Section 29 allows for the AFSRB to require continuing education for funeral directors, embalmers, dual funeral director/embalmer, pre-need salespersons and business managers. The requirement that the AFSRB has in place is 3 credits annually. These three credits are at the discretion of the individual licensee. There will be a mandatory course once every three years for three credits which will be required in addition to the individual licensee's three credits. The AFSRB does not pre-approve courses or programs that may be available to licensees. Instead, the onus falls to the individual licensee to justify the courses they have taken in relation to the Core Competencies, a link to these core competencies is included below.
All continuing education credits must be entered into the Employee Portal in the online licensing system.
